Why Join Toastmasters?

Toastmasters helps people become more confident communicators and leaders through hands-on practice, supportive feedback, and a structured learning programme.


Whether you want to improve presentations at work, become a more confident speaker, develop leadership skills, or simply challenge yourself in a supportive environment, The Toasted Sandwich provides a safe and welcoming space to grow.

​We meet every Wednesday from 12 to 1 pm, both in-person at Discovery Park, Sandwich, Kent and online via Zoom. 

How Toastmasters Works

Members learn by participating in real meetings and taking on practical speaking and leadership roles.

 

Every meeting gives you the opportunity to:

  • Practise public speaking

  • Improve communication skills

  • Receive constructive feedback

  • Develop confidence in a supportive environment

  • Build leadership experience

 

You can participate at your own pace — there’s no pressure to speak before you feel ready.

Pathways Learning Programme

Toastmasters members follow the Pathways learning programme, which combines communication and leadership development through interactive projects.

You’ll work through activities such as:

  • Prepared speeches

  • Impromptu speaking

  • Meeting leadership roles

  • Evaluations and feedback

  • Team and project leadership

 

The programme is flexible, self-paced, and designed to support both personal and professional growth.

Supportive Feedback

One of the most valuable parts of Toastmasters is learning through supportive evaluations.
 

After speeches and meeting roles, members receive constructive feedback to help them:

  • Recognise strengths

  • Improve gradually

  • Build confidence over time

Leadership Opportunities

Toastmasters is not only about public speaking.
